01 / Discord Rules

Leaving the Discord: If you leave the Discord, you will lose your roles. The Bay Stories is not responsible for role loss caused by leaving on your own.

• No harassment, toxicity, hate speech, repeated or unnecessary mentions, or targeted abuse.
• No offensive profile pictures or nicknames, and no impersonation. Owners have roles attached to their official Discord accounts; be alert for scams.
• No advertising, spam, or begging. Self-promotion is only allowed in designated channels.
• Do not promote other servers in this Discord, including indirect hints toward advertising.
• Keep conversations in their respective channels.
• Do not post or share another user's personal information.
• This is an 18+ community. Childish or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
• Do not violate Discord's Terms of Service or CFX's Terms of Service.
• Begging for roles is prohibited.
• Do not ask community members for real-life money. This is not a charity Discord.
• Scamming community members is prohibited.

02 / Roleplay Rules

• Metagaming: Do not use out-of-character or external information in character. Your character may only act on information learned through roleplay. This includes streams, Discord calls or chats, personal messages, and other external sources. Exceptions apply only to designated in-character announcement channels, such as City Event Promotions, Press Releases, and News Reports.
• Random Deathmatch (RDM): Killing a player without a valid, realistic roleplay reason or without proper initiation is RDM. Killing an AFK player who cannot react or defend themselves may also be considered RDM and fail RP. Prior interaction and a valid exchange must be established before a player is killed.
• Example: If Person B killed Person A's friend and fled, Person A may initiate a roleplay confrontation over the phone or face to face, clearly communicating the reason before escalating.
• Powergaming: Do not use game mechanics, external information, or roleplay concepts to give your character an unfair or unrealistic advantage.
• Examples include hearing conversations through walls or from unrealistic distances, or using /me to declare an outcome such as “strangles person to death” without allowing the other player to respond.
• Minor exploiting or metagaming may result in a ban, depending on the situation.
• Do not exploit bugs or unauthorized tools; report issues to staff instead of using them for an advantage.
• Respect the scene and give other players a reasonable opportunity to respond. Do not use unrealistic actions to force an outcome.

03 / Gang vs Civilian Interaction Rules

These rules apply to gang members and civilians when interacting with one another.

• Gangs must not go out of their way to cause issues with civilians. Civilians must not enter gang hoods or gang areas to cause issues with gang members.
• No fighting, shooting, or crimes may be committed in green zones. This includes provoking others. Running into a green zone mid-scene to avoid consequences may result in fail-RP action.
• Civilians may not “slide” on gangs. If you want to slide, join a gang or create one. Civilians may defend themselves during the active situation only; no further retaliation outside that situation.

04 / Hostage & Captivity

Kidnapping and holding someone captive is allowed when there is a valid roleplay reason. Do not approach and kidnap a random person without a reason.

• You may not kidnap anyone with a whitelisted job, including Police Department (PD) and EMS.
• Ransom may not exceed $100,000 per RP scenario and may only be demanded once per day.
• Fake hostages are prohibited during robberies or bank heists.
• You may not force a player you are robbing to empty their bank account or reveal their PIN.
• A hostage may be held for a maximum of 30 minutes.

05 / Ban Appeals

Staff may allow ban appeals under the community's guidelines. Create a ticket in the Support panel and clearly state that you want to appeal a ban. Include:

• Your ban ID (screenshot or copy/paste from the ban message).
• The name of the staff member who issued the ban, if known.
• The reason you were banned.
• Any new information that may show the ban was issued incorrectly.
• What you will do to help prevent another ban.

After submitting the information, be patient and wait for a response. The staff team or issuing staff member will decide whether an unban is appropriate. An appeal does not guarantee an unban.

06 / Permanent Ban Offenses

The following offenses are listed as non-appealable under the supplied policy:

• Modding, cheating, or hacking.
• DDoS attacks or doxing community members.
• Stalking community meetings.
• Exposing another person's real-life information or looking someone up outside the game.
• Contacting someone outside the game without their permission or invitation.
• Harassing community members to the point that a ban is issued.
• Saving or sharing someone's real-life photo from Discord without permission.
• Sending death threats to community members.
• Abusing a whitelisted job by selling or giving job items to the public.

Anti-cheat / tools: Injection tools, mod menus, and DDoS tools are prohibited.

Free unban policy supplied by management: All community members receive one free AC unban and one free TX unban. Confirm current eligibility and how this applies before publishing.

Poaching and advertising: Advertising or recruiting for another server is prohibited and may result in a permanent ban from the server and Discord. Hints toward advertising also count. Report suspected advertising through a ticket and include screenshot evidence.

07 / Harassment, Sexual Harassment & Safety

This is a streamer-friendly community with zero tolerance for harassment, trolling, and discrimination.

• Racial slurs, harassment, derogatory comments, sexism, homophobic terms, and hateful comments are prohibited.
• Female harassment and disrespect toward the LGBTQ+ community are not tolerated in roleplay or out of game. Treat everyone with respect.
• Keep OOC conflict out of IC roleplay. If you feel targeted or harassed, submit a Support Ticket or an in-game Player Report.
• Harassment and discrimination cases may be treated as non-appealable under the supplied policy.
• Erotic / NSFW roleplay, where offered, must be consensual. Rape roleplay is strictly prohibited with zero tolerance.
• Explicit roleplay should be discussed and agreed to beforehand. Be mindful of others' boundaries; if someone is uncomfortable, stop and report the concern if needed.

08 / Female Disrespect

Absolutely no female disrespect or harassment. If a female approaches you first and you defend yourself in that active interaction, that is a different situation; it does not permit ongoing harassment or retaliation.

Reported or confirmed violations follow this penalty ladder:

• 1st offense: 1 warning and 50 minutes of community service (COMS).
• 2nd offense: 300 minutes of community service (COMS).
• 3rd offense: 1-week ban.
• 4th offense: Permanent ban.

COMS means community service. Staff may review context and evidence before taking action.

09 / Bodybag Rules

Bodybagging is allowed for any player, including civilians and gang members, but it must not be used to bypass green-zone protections or to harass other players.

• No bodybagging in green zones. Bodybagging is prohibited in all green zones, without exception.
• No forcing or exploiting someone out of a green zone. Do not tell, bait, trick, threaten, or exploit a player into leaving a green zone so you can bodybag them. Do not use bugs or mechanics to pull or force someone out of a green zone.
• No safe-zone abuse. Do not use bodybagging to bypass safe-zone protections or continue a scene that must stop in a green zone.
• Roleplay initiation still applies. Bodybagging does not override RDM, metagaming, powergaming, or other roleplay rules. A valid roleplay situation must be established where required by the city's rules.
• No targeted harassment or revenge. Do not repeatedly bodybag someone to bully them, retaliate over out-of-character disagreements, or ruin their roleplay.
• No combat logging. Do not leave the server to avoid an active scene, bodybagging, or its roleplay consequences.
• No fail RP or exploiting. Do not use unrealistic actions, glitches, or unauthorized tools to gain an unfair advantage during a bodybag situation. Report bugs to staff instead.
• New Life Rule (NLR): Follow any NLR rules the city has established after a death or revive. Do not return to a scene or use information your character should not know if the city's NLR policy prohibits it.
• Reports and staff review: Players may submit a ticket or player report with clips or screenshots when they believe bodybag rules have been violated. Staff may review the evidence and take action under the city's rules.

10 / IC (In-Character) Terminology

• Coming into the City: Joining the server.
• Daydreaming: AFK / idle.
• Head: Character.
• Vocal Cords / Voice Box: Voice chat.
• Going to Sleep: Leaving the server for the night.
• Taking a Quick Nap: Restarting the game.
• There is a Demon / Wizard: A modder or cheater is in the server.
• The Government: Staff.
• Report to Government: Requesting staff assistance.
• Spider on your Foot: Rubber-banding or teleporting.
• Your Ears are Clogged: Speakers or voice chat are not working properly.
• His / Her Head Popped: The game crashed.
• Banished from the City / Bora Bora: Banned from the server.

• “I'll be daydreaming / in my head”: Going AFK or tabbing out.
• The City: The server.
• My Pockets / Bag: Your inventory.

• My Head Popped: Game crashed or an unintentional disconnect.
• Headaches: Game issues, lag, or texture loss.

11 / Staff, Reports & Common Sense

• Staff reserves the right to review each case and make a judgment based on the circumstances and available evidence.
• Use common sense and submit reports through the proper ticket or in-game report process.
• Do not impersonate staff, interfere with staff investigations, or use a whitelisted job to bypass community rules.
• Provide clear evidence when requested and be patient while a report or appeal is reviewed.
